Architecture
Architecture is a visual art and science that comprise buildings and structures. The word architecture has Greek origin. Architecture also comprise building but also the environment, urban planning, landscape etc. feasibility and cost of building are important to define from Architectural point of view, as well as the purpose of the building or its main functionalities.
Nowadays, architecture is an art based on creation based on a plan. The word is used to represent things in general way like for example the architecture of music or mathematics. We can also say the architecture of something to speak about its appearance or how it perceived by humans. Architecture intervene in space, volume, texture, light, shadow, or abstract elements in order to achieve coherent beautiful objects. This is different from an engineering point of view where functional aspect is more important.
The work of an architecture range from the easy tasks to more difficult ones, means from building houses to building stadiums and skyscrapers. A lot of importance is given to some buildings due to their symbolic importance culturally or politically. The architecture aims always to provide pleasant buildings and design in which people enjoy living.
Ceramics
In ceramic art ceramic materials or clay are used to make pottery for example. Also it can be used to make figurines or sculpture. Ceramic objects can be considered as artwork or as decorative, objects to be used in different industries. Ceramics has been used in different eras and is a symbol of wealth. It has been found in different archaeological sites. Ceramic products can be produced in factories where you have people designing and designing products. it can be called pottery when someone has a studio and produces art pottery using ceramics. This art is based on heating materials. It does not include glass which is a different art. It mostly ceramic or clay.
Conceptual art
Conceptual art is based on the concept(s) or idea(s) first rather than the material, where a lot of importance is given to the concept itself. This term first appeared in the 1960s and always refers to the idea based art and is linked to visual art. In the United Kingdom, Conceptual art refers to all contemporary art that does not use the common skills or tools for
Drawing
Drawing aim to make an image, using multiple tools and techniques. It includes drawing on surface whether a paper, a wall by putting a applying pressure from a tool, a pen or a pencil, it also includes moving a tool, going up and down In a way to present something.
Drawing tools can be:

Painting
Painting is also considered a visual art. Painting is the art of drawing and reflects the ideas of the artist. Painting takes multiple form, it could be representing nature, objects etc.
Painting first appeared in caves many years. The oldest is believed to be 32000 years back (Chauvet cave, southern France). The Chauvet cave contains multiple paintings representing animals like Bisons and horses.
Digital art
Digital art is becoming more and more used by artists thanks to the availability of different software. Computers are widely used to create digital artworks. The reason behind this is that it offers the opportunity to edit in multiple ways images. Computers intervene also in multiple artistic areas such as sound, video, etc. Some artists prefer to use a combination of digital and traditional art.

Art residency in Finland-Hakoniemi residency
Founded in 2019 in Oravisalo, Rääkkylä, North Karelia, Finland. Hakoniemi residency is a peaceful and inspiring working environment, located and inspired by the beautiful lake-side nature of Northern Saimaa archipelago. We would like to offer a residency place for sustainable work plans of different kinds, and an interest to the natural environment. The residence is suitable for artists, musicians, writers, artisans, designers, researchers and architects among others.
For 16 years, the farm of Hakoniemi in Oravisalo was inhabited by painter Jorma Pajarinen. His studio and a barn gallery were located in the yard of the Hakoniemi farm. Hakoniemi with its surroundings is an ideal destination for artistic work. In addition to the lake-side nature, the proximity of the Russian border and the history of the region are strongly present. The nearby Salpapolku offers a chance to get to know Finnish military history and the diverse nature of the Northern Saimaa archipelago. With the recovery of the endangered Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis), there is a real possibility to spot one these chubby swimmers sun bathing on the cliffs.
For the founders of Hakoniemi Residence Support Association, it is important to revive the culture, music, design and diverse art of Rääkkylä. Through the residence, the support association and artists are able to work in co-operation with the local community and companies.
We want residency artists to experience the same inspiring environment of the Saimaa archipelago that has been provided to us for decades. The lakes, nature, animals, people and everyday life on the inland islands of the Northern Saimaa are the source of inspiration for artistic and creative work.
Please note that there is no permanent staff living in the Hakoniemi house, so the residency is best suited for guests who are used to work and reside in self-directed environments. The location is remote, situated 15km away from the village center with no public transportation.

1 week – 3 months
Accommodation
The residence offers work space for artists and creators. The 82 square meter house has two bedrooms. Kitchen, living room, indoor sauna, bathroom and toilet facilities are all shared between the residents. The well-equipped kitchen, work space, piano, indoor sauna, bicycles, Kicksled “potkukelkka” (in the winter time) are at the guests’ disposal free of charge. There is also a private beach, lean-to shelter laavu and barbecue facilities for the residents.In the vicinity of the beach, the Quiet House offers a place for tranquility surrounded by birds and a lake. Outdoor sauna is available for an additional charge. There is a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, television and a fast 30 Mbps internet connection in the residency.

Studio / Workspace
The use of the work space and the barn gallery is split between two residents. It is possible to work either in or outdoors. The old barn building has a 25 square meter heated work space with two work stations. The same building has a 50m2 barn gallery. For an additional fee, the loom can be found at the village house 3 km away.
Fees and support
Start 200 € / week 500 € / month. All prices include pick up from train station, nearest bus stop in Rääkkylä or at Joensuu airport. Weekly trips to the grocery store will be arranged as well.

Art residency in latvia for international artists
The International Artist Residency Pedvale is now officially accepting applicants for our 2022 spring and summer Residency programme. We are inviting artists to apply for a 4 weeks long residency in 6 possible times – March, April, May, June, July, August. Applications will be selected and 9 artists each month will have the opportunity to work creatively. The groups will be formed according to a principle so that representatives of different areas would be included – visual artists, writers, dancers, performance artists. Pedvale Art Park & Artist Residency is located two hours northwest of Riga. The spacious territory of almost 100 hectares at Pedvale Art Park is suitable for leisurely walks, during which you can enjoy both the landscape and the art exhibited in the park.
Duration of residency
We offer 4 weeks long residency in 6 possible times: 1 March – 29 March; 3 April – 30 April; 2 May – 29 May; 3 June – 30 June, 4 July – 31 July, 2 August – 29 August. We can accommodate up to 9 artists at the same time.
Accommodation
Artists stay in our refurbished manor house – built at the beginning of the 19th century – in fully-furnished private bedrooms with private bathrooms and they have access to the kitchen, common areas, laundry, Pedvale Art Park grounds, car parking etc.
Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
The Residency is open to visual artists, writers, performers and myriad creative individuals. The artists’ workshops are equipped with professional lighting for the needs of artists and have basic equipment. The workshop room is equipped according to the wishes and needs of each individual artist. Artists must self-fund the travel and specific materials or equipment but we can provide assistance for the necessary arrangements. There are shops in the vicinity where you can buy materials necessary for the work.
Studio / Workspace
Studios can be used as private or shared. We offer 4 studious on the ground floor of the manor house ~30 square meters each and 3 smaller ones in the basement. Artists have 24 hour access to the workspace. It is possible to work outside in the sculpture park as well. Artists are responsible for supplying their own materials. The residency fee varies depending on the workspace – private or shared.
Fees and support
The artist’s fee is €480 per month. The payment must be done no later than one month before the sojourning begins. Every participant can bring along one family member or partner that will cost 50% of the price. The residency fee is intended to cover the general cost of running the programme and the maintenance of historic building that is under the protection of the National Heritage Board. We do not offer grants, stipends or other economical support. We are happy to assist artists seeking grants or other forms of funding in their home country/institution, by providing letters of recommendation when the candidature is accepted.
Expectations towards the artist
We invite artists to present themselves and their work to the local community. The Residency also offers a possibility to teach a public workshop, to perform or make an exhibition during the residency. But none of the above is mandatory and we will discuss this matter with every artist personally.

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces an art call for the gallery’s 11th Annual “Nature” Online Juried Art Competition for the month of October 2021. Design for a chair and/or table.Conditions
- For chairs, the main material shall be wood and upholstery. Beech, ash, oak, or walnut should be the wood species utilized, in either solid or plywood version. The Kvadrat textile collections should be used for upholstered pieces. The use of other materials such as metal, thermopolymer, and aluminum will also be accepted.
The chair design proposal includes: chairs, armchairs, lounge chairs, stools, benches and sofas. - For tables, the principal material shall be “Solid Textile Board by Really” – a high-density material manufactured from Kvadrat textiles at the end of their life-cycle. The use of other materials such as wood, plywood, laminate, glass, metal, thermopolymer, and natural stones will be accepted.
The table design proposal includes: meeting table, living tables and occasional tables.
- All designs presented shall be new, not having been marketed or publicized prior to the date of the Contest.
- The designs submitted must be unpublished and must not have been marketed or published prior to the contest.

Project
The following material must be submitted by each participant:
- A prototype of the proposed piece (scale 1:5).
- A technical report, to be presented on 2 to 4 double-space, single-face A4 typewritten pages. 8 ½ inches x 11 inches pages for projects sent from United States of America.
- CD or USB with plans, diagrams, sketches, reders or pictures from the model.
Particular consideration will be given to innovative contributions (based on a feasibility study), which help to increase the product quality. The following factors will be analyzed:
- Production costs.
- Compliance with the intended functions.
- Ergonomics.
Designs must be submitted in such a manner as to facilitate their mechanized mass production.
All products must be original, i.e., they must not reflect previous designs.Video Presentation
The presentation of a creative video explaining the project and/or showing the details and model of the design will be evaluated.
The maximum video duration (*.avi) will be 2 minutes and should be created in widescreen format with a minimum resolution of 1080p (1920×1080) and maximum resolution of 2160p (3840×2160).
File size in avi format cannot exceed 1 Gb.

To avoid the cost of the shipment through customs, it must be taken into account that the greater the commercial value of the project, the cost of transport will be more expensive.
For shipments and international collections of models, some courier companies require the participant have a customer number to pay for the shipping and return of their entries.

All projects submitted and which comply with the criteria that Andreu World, S.A. subsequently considers appropriate for production will remain the property of Andreu World, S.A., who will compensate the designers with appropriate royalties according to the company’s internal standard.
Andreu World will also retain possession of the projects submitted by the winners of the first and second prizes, and in relation to which Andreu World, S.A. assumes no commitment for the production of the same.
With the submission of the designs to the competition, participants guarantee that they will not provide materials that infringe on any intellectual property or third-party rights, so that to release absolutely Andreu World of all liability for breach of any rule or infraction of the third-party rights on the part of the participants, assuming the obligation to keep Andreu World free of all responsibility in such as case.

For this, participants must provide notification at least working three days in advance so that Andreu World, S.A. can pack the items for transportation.
Each participant will be responsible for the management of and costs of shipment/return of their project(s) submitted such as transportation, insurance, taxes, customs, freight, etc.
Andreu World, S.A. cannot accept advance payment by the contestants for the costs arising from the return of the project. The competition is open to all British and international artists over the age of 18 years old on 1st June 2019.
Description
The contest is organized by the Derwent Cumberland Pencil Company.
Artists are invited to submit up to 6 images. The work entered must be created in pencil(including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or coloured pencils). The work must not exceed 182cm in its greatest dimension. There is no minimum size limit.
All entered work must have been completed within the last 3 years.
