Open call for artists Milano Mediterranea 2024

Milano Mediterranea is a decolonial participatory art center.
A diffuse archive of collective practices that through the performing arts interacts with territories and communities to activate processes of interconnection between people and new aesthetics of the contemporary.
Milano Mediterranea is structured thanks to a program of creative residencies aimed at artistsз with migrant backgrounds residing in Italy and interested in working in interaction with the
Giambellino-Lorenteggio neighborhood translating their artistic research into an exercise of decoloniality, understood as a space of experimentation to open up to new practices of relationship,
creation and narration.
The projects will be selected by a Neighborhood Committee together with the artistic direction of Milano Mediterranea and will be invited to participate in a co-production residency with the Cultural Production Center BASE Milano.
The production of the art projects in residence will take place in dialogue with the network of neighborhood spaces and realities identified based on the specific needs of the area and connections
with the art projects presented.

Emerging performance actions of different kinds are eligible for the call, including: performance, sound and new media art, text-based performance, lecture performance, multimedia storytelling,
choreographic practices, relational practices and workshop-based projects.
Eligible to participate in the call are professionalз artists with no age limit, with migrant backgrounds residing in Italy, who have interaction with people, communities and territories at the heart of their artistic journey. The Artistic Direction and the Neighborhood Committee will evaluate applications from people who identify themselves as racialized subjects in a rewarding manner.
In addition to the production of the selected project, and the realization of a public outcome, we ask for the willingness to offer an intensive workshop (duration and modalities to be agreed upon with the direction).

Two artistic residencies will be activated, one dedicated to an artistз of the Milanese territory and one open to the national territory. Each residency includes an accompaniment to adapt the project to the territorial reality (choice of spaces, interaction with the local network) by the artistic and organizational direction lasting one week.
One month of productive residency.
A gross cachet of 1,500 €. The necessary technical board will be borne by the organization, consistent with the available budget.

The organization will also offer logistical support to the implementation of the project, its outcome and the intensive workshop as well as communication promotion on its own channels and through its Press Office.
The artistic residency selected on a national basis will also have access to artist3 hospitality within the creative ecosystem of BASE Milano, a partner of Milano Mediterranea
