Vishakha is an aspiring artist living in Singapore. She uses a blank canvas and tubes of paints to color her expression of emotions to reality.
Art House Online Gallery had a chance to have an interview with her to get to know more about her
-When it comes to your art, explain what you do?
My art emerges from stories, ones that are the product of my surroundings or experiences in life, or from the imagination I carry at a point in time. But it always starts with a story. My inherent need for social context also sometimes compels me to make the piece carry some sort of moral messaging, apparent more for its presence than its cause.
-What project are you working on now?
I am creating a collection of paintings tentatively titled ‘Beautiful Despair’, depicting five stages of grief.
-Which place in the world do you find to be the most inspiring?
A place where life can be observed in abundance. I get a lot of inspiration when I am around babies or the elderly.
-What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
‘Can you settle for an average life? No? Then do something about it.’
-Do you make a living off of your art?
No
-How has your practice changed over time?
Contrary to my expectations, it has become more spontaneous
