Art Residency in France at La Napoule Art Foundation
La Napoule Art Foundation invites artists to take part in an art residency program.
La Napoule Art Foundation and Fondation David R. Graham are pleased to bring together Canadian artists of all genres to a new residency program in which artists will receive inspiration, support, and opportunities for career growth, while strengthening the intercultural connection between Canada and France.
LNAF will host Canadian artists in month-long residencies to take place in 2 cohorts (10 artists per) annually. Canadian resident artists’ works will be shared and promoted through exhibitions at the Château.
20 Canadian artists a year will enjoy an extraordinary cultural experience to practice their art in the company of other artists in a castle in the South of France.
Acceptance into this residency includes a generous travel and material stipend, room and board, studio space and time and space to create in an awe-inspiring locale.
Established and emerging Canadian artists from any discipline are encouraged to apply.

ABOUT LA NAPOULE ART FOUNDATION
La Napoule Art Foundation (LNAF) nurtures artistic talent through residencies and community outreach, fostering the creative process as a catalyst for intercultural understanding. For over seventy years, LNAF has hosted performances, residencies, and exhibitions at the Château de La Napoule by artists the world over.
ABOUT FONDATION DAVID R. GRAHAM
Established in 2020 under the umbrella of the Fondation de France, the Fondation David R. Graham seeks to establish and invest in relationships with Canadian and French institutions to promote cultural exchange between France and Canada. It does so by providing a combination of scholarships and grants to fund Canadian art exhibitions in France and for Canadian artists to travel to France to experience France, work, teach, share expertise, etc.

Accommodation
Residents are housed in single rooms in the recently renovated Villa Marguerite, located across a small street from the Château. Rooms are equipped with private baths and each has sea or garden views. Wireless internet is available in the Villa’s common areas. Linen service is provided weekly. There is a washing machine, dryer, and clothesline at the Villa for residents’ use.
Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
Established and emerging Canadian artists from any discipline are encouraged to apply. Studio space is provided, along with a materials stipend.
Studio / Workspace
LNAF provides each resident with a stipend, plus a studio space in which to work. Studios are located throughout the Château property, some inside the castle and some in towers on its grounds. Artists are asked to address any specific requirements for studio space in their applications.
Fees and support

Expectations towards the artist
La Napoule Art Foundation offers time and space for creative minds to engage in cultural interchange and meaningful work that impacts the world for the greater good. In addition to using this time to explore new ideas and develop their work, artists are expected to take every opportunity, especially mealtimes, to build community and friendship as well as to exchange ideas and experiences.There are opportunities to participate in workshops for local students in the La Napoule area. Artists will be invited to participate in an exhibition to take place at the Château every third year.

Applicants must answer general questions, as well as specific questions about their practice. One reference is required. Applicants can upload media attachments (images, videos, sound clips, writing samples, etc.).
