Korea | Residency for writers at Toji Cultural Foundation 2026

Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) and the Toji Cultural Foundation, with the support of the Residencia de Estudiantes, are calling for applications from Spain-based writers for the Spain–Korea cultural exchange programme at the Toji Cultural Foundation in Korea, from September to October 2026.

This residency offers a writer residing or primarily working in Spain the opportunity to develop their creative project in a unique natural setting near Wonju, fostering international networking and professional exchange.

The environment is a quiet, rural setting near the Gangwon mountains, ideal for research and writing surrounded by nature.

Eligibility

  • Writers over 18 years of age with legal residence in Spain.
  • Established literary career (minimum of one work published by a professional publishing house).
  • An ongoing literary project (novel, short story, essay, poetry, play, etc.).
  • Proficiency in English or Korean (B1 level according to the CEFR).

Support

  • Round-trip economy class flight from the city of residence in Spain to South Korea.
  • Accommodation provided at the Toji Cultural Foundation facilities.
  • Full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) at the Toji Cultural Foundation dining hall from Monday to Friday; breakfast and lunch on Saturdays (please see full terms for Sundays and public holidays).
  • Internet access and library services, including book loans and research materials from the Yonsei University Wonju Campus library.
