The Old School is a charming sustainable and non-profitable residency on peaceful island named Hrísey by the north coast of Iceland, in a short distance from the arctic circle. The island is surrounded with a breathtaking view of the mountains on the coast of Eyjafjörður and the atmosphere will put you back in time of peace and wonderful nature. Perfect inspiration for artists.
Deadline: multiple intake periods
About the Venue: The island is 7,0 km2 and 7,5 km long. The only way to get there is by the ferry Sævar from Árskógssandur. It’s scheduled very often all days and takes ca. 15 min. There is a bus from Akureyri to the crossroads to Árskógssandur (ca. 30 min. drive). Service in the village of Hrísey: restaurant, grocery store, post office and swimming pool with natural hot spring water which we strongly recommend.
