Ruy González de Clavijo

Spanish gentleman born in Madrid, at the end of the century XIV. He served at the court of the King of Castile, Henry III, and in 1403 he was part of the embassy sent by the same monarch to Tamerlane. The journey lasted three years and he recorded it in a chronicle that was first published in 1582 under the title Life and exploits of the great Tamerlane. The narrative is of great interest, not only for its literary quality, but also for the first-hand information it provides about the regions of Persia and Central Asia.
