The competition is open to Belgian artists or artists residing in Belgium, aged 35 maximum.

Registration for the contest is free.

The selected artists will assume the expenses incurred for the exhibition as well as the transport.

All the art mediums are admitted.

The works must meet the material possibilities of the exhibition hall.

Bulletin and conditions of registration

  1. Candidates must submit an A4 file of 20 pages maximum pdf and paper.
  2. Download the 2023 Registration Form
  3. Register here online by attaching your pdf file (max. 5MB) and the links of your videos (if you present video).
  4. Send your paper file to 21 rue de la Concorde, 1050 Brussels

The file must contain:

– The 2023 registration form, signed.

–  a resume.

– photos of the project (photos, paintings, drawings, installation, projections, etc.) that you wish to present

– a description of the artistic approach.

– a photo of the candidate.

For videos, artists are required to paste the links to their videos in the boxes listed on the “online registration”.

The themes or research work are left to the free choice of the candidates

The dates

Online registrations and files with the registration form must arrive no later than Thursday 31 August 2023 at 21 rue de la Concorde in 1050 Brussels (do not ring the bell, and no sending by registered mail please).

The exhibition will take place in December 2023.

The award ceremony will take place during the opening.

The Prizes

– National Lottery Prize: 2 prizes worth €3,000.

– Sabam Prize: a prize worth €3,000

– Botanical Prize: an individual exhibition at the Botanical in 2023 or 2024.

– Intermondes/ArtContest Prize: a 2-month residency at the Intermondes Center in La Rochelle in 2025 or 2026, accompanied by production support of €750 and ArtContest prize, a grant of €1,600 for the residency.

– CAB Foundation Prize: a one-month residency in Brussels or Saint Paul de Vence and a grant of €1,500.–

– City of Brussels Prize: an individual exhibition in the Centrale.box at the Centrale for contemporary art in 2024 or 2025 and a production grant of €1,000.

– Cadr’art Prize: a check worth €1,000 for equipment

Further information

The results will be posted on the home page of the site from September 30.

The 10 candidates whose works have been selected by the jury will be notified by email during the month of July and displayed on the Homepage.

A page per artist will be created on the site www.artcontest.be with a link to the CV, photos of the work and a text (FR-NL-EN that the artist must provide to us).

The 2023 annual exhibition will take place in December at the Botanique.

The awards ceremony for the 4 winners will take place during the opening of the exhibition.

The winners of previous editions will have to wait 5 years to represent themselves.

From November 1, non-selected artists will be able to pick up their files at the same address, every Friday morning (if you could send us a little email a few days before, thank you). Records not retrieved by the end of December 2023 will be considered permanently abandoned.

To register for the competition, candidates will unreservedly accept all the conditions of these rules.

The organizing committee will take the greatest care of all the work. Insurance covers the work for a maximum amount of €1,600 per work.
