Write Over Here Art residency – Fall 2021
Overview
This 3-week self-directed Indigenous Arts residency will invite writers to engage in an active writing program, both in their community and on the Banff Centre campus. Online gatherings during the community phase will be scheduled to bring everyone together to connect and share.
Participants will be able to choose to participate either online from their community or on campus for the first two weeks. The final week will see all participants meeting on campus to share readings and have deeper discussions of their process. Faculty will engage all writers throughout their time, as needed and scheduled, while this space allows for writers to put the time aside in their own capacity but still engage in their writing practice.
What Does the Program Offer?
This residency offers writers a combination of lectures from faculty, open social spaces to connect, open spaces to review and provide feedback to each other’s work, faculty office hours and readings. Writers will deepen their artistry and technical application with literary mentorship from faculty of various writing genres, create peer relationships and expand their professional networks, and have the opportunity for possible collaborations following their time at Banff Centre.
Who Should Apply?
This program welcomes Indigenous writers from across Canada.
Please note: As we re-open campus and welcome artists back to programming in a safe and mindful way, we have made the difficult decision to restrict recruitment for on-campus programs to those currently residing in Canada. We continue to monitor the situation closely and look forward to the future relaxation of travel measures that will allow us to welcome international artists once again.

DISCOVERY ART FAIR COLOGNE
Important dates | April 29th – May 1st, 2022 | Opening April 28th, 2022
Venue: XPOST in Cologne | Gladbacher Wall 5, 50670 Cologne
From April 28th to May 1st, 2022 we bring young, contemporary art back to the art metropolis of Cologne. The Discovery Art Fair (formerly known as KÖLNER LISTE) is an event designed to inspire and engage, inciting the discovery of new names and artworks. Addressing both new and experienced collectors, the fair showcases a wide spectrum of emerging contemporary art at affordable prices. With an extraordinary selection of local and international galleries, the Discovery Art Fair aims to become one of the most interesting art events to follow as one of the most progressive art fairs in Germany.
Art lovers see the Discovery Art Fair as an ideal extension to Art Cologne, which takes place in the fall. A place where their knowledge of the contemporary scene is broadened and their collecting possibilities expand. Clad in friendly and communicative atmosphere, the organizers invite all visitors to enter the dialogue with artists and gallerists and to connect with the international art community. The stimulating environment of the fair is where many new artistic relationships blossom, and where experienced collectors and first-time buyers can spot and buy original art for their home or office.
The diversity of artistic objects and media is another feature of this art show, ranging from large-scale canvasses to miniature editions. With painting being only one of the mediums present at the Discovery Art Fair, visitors will be presented with works of sculpture, graphic prints, mixed media, installations, photography, video art and urban art.
Along with the variety of art, the quality of works presented is as equally important to the Discovery Art Fair team. Imbued with an abundance of styles and visual expressions, the art that the public will see at the exhibition is carefully selected by the exhibitors especially for this occasion. Many of the artworks that had their debut at the fair found their way into world-renowned art spaces around the world later on.
Spanning across the 4000 sqm of the historic XPOST venue, the fair introduces new art Cologne hasn’t seen before, serving as the hub for all contemporary art enthusiasts. The late 19th-century industrial halls of the locale serve as the perfect setting for the exhibition and its program. In addition to art presentations, the Discovery Art Fair will organize various educational programs for artists and art professionals, as well as workshops and guided tours.
The Discovery Art Fair is more than an art fair in Cologne. It is a place of immersion into the art world, an event to connect with art professionals and dealers and meet artists in person, and a market for some of the most inventive high-quality affordable art.
We at the Discovery Art Fair Cologne look forward to presenting you with another unique art-viewing experience, hoping to encourage your collector’s spirit to act!
OPEN CALL 2021 VII Festival Video nodoCCS
The word node can refer to different concepts depending on the field in which we move. Since we started being nodoCCS, our realities have transformed at an exponential rate, changing our way of being, thinking and interacting and modifying our expectations about our role and about the world around us.
nodoCCS presents itself as an open, artist-run platform that seeks to “create and maintain spaces” in which diverse groups and communities feel welcome to become more than the sum of their parts, and to shape porous spaces that explore the worlds of our existence, from different perspectives.
As every year we will bring together an eclectic and diverse group of people to share their videos. Poets, explorers, artists, the misrepresented and the forgotten will be part of the journey, creating digital content that will lead to offline and online events in Caracas and/or beyond.
We will practice new ways of coming together, expanding the scope of our imagination through new ways of collaborating to create and maintain spaces around video with the intention of finding urgent issues that inspire and concern us all.
Last year’s experience inspired us to go beyond the gallery space and expand the physical locations of our screenings, generate global dynamics, new ways to collaborate and above all articulate our work to this new reality. This year’s Festival programming will feature online viewing rooms, panel discussions with selected authors, experimental rooms and face-to-face events that will take place between November and December 2021, a hybrid programming that everyone can be part of no matter where they are physically located.
The VII Festival de Video nodoCARACAS takes these ideas as a basis to propose its VII Video Festival, which by reinventing itself once again reaffirms its intention to “hold spaces” for the encounter in a fragmented and strange world that inspires us to continue creating.
Deadline: OCTOBER 30, 2021
1. A maximum of 1 video per artist or collective of any theme and in any language may be submitted, although preferably subtitled in Spanish and English. The duration of the video should not exceed 6 minutes.
The selected works will be part of the programming of the VII nodoCCS 2021 Video Festival, which will take place in 2021 in different spaces and formats, both online and in person.
When you agree to participate, you acknowledge that the videos will be presented to a wider audience and you agree to be part of the new spaces and initiatives developed by nodoCCS to expand its visibility. They may be included in international curatorships that will travel to different cities with which we collaborate annually.
2. The works will be selected by a jury of international specialists coordinated by nodoCCS to be screened during the exhibitions and festivals.
3. The submission of the works implies that the artists authorize the projection of their works by the means that nodoCCS considers for its diffusion. The copyright of the work is the exclusive property of the artist who has made the work and who, in case of being selected by nodoCCS, allows its exhibition and diffusion. The screenings will always be free of charge.
4. PRESELECTION: The videos must be online, either in open, or in private version with password access.
5. SELECTION: Selected artists will be contacted by email in November 2021 and will be asked to send a digital file in the highest quality format, preferably MOV HD or MP4 HD.
6. COST: The participation in the call will have an open price that we will take as a donation to be able to carry out the management tasks, support the invited artists and collaborate with the installation costs of the festival. Therefore, there will be a donation option starting at $5.00.
7. The submission of material implies the acceptance of these rules and any aspect not contemplated in these regulations will be resolved by nodoCCS.
8. The WINNER will be announced on the first day of the festival and will be paid $100.
9. If the artist is not able to make the donation for the participation in the call, but wishes to participate proposing a video, contact us at ccsnodo@gmail.com
